Big Easy Bound....

Just a quick note, hours before I'm scheduled to leave for New Orleans and Gulfport for an amazing seminar with an internationally acclaimed wedding photographer, Mike Fulton from TriCoast Photography. I literally cannot wait to get there, as it's going to be a fantastic, intense workshop, and I'm sure that nothing will be the same in my wedding world once I return. I return in time for Joe and Amey's wedding in Kingston on Saturday, where I plan to put all of my new skills to good use with this gorgeous couple!

I'm going to try to post a little NOla flavour here while I'm away, so stay tuned! :)

Crystal and Shane TTD

After Crystal and Shane returned from Vegas (after their Lucky 7's wedding on 7/7/7), they called me up so we could plan a Trash The Dress shoot. Apparently Crystal's dress had a rough walk home after the wedding, and we figured it couldn't get much worse underneath than it already was, so TTD was the obvious next step!

We drove to a cool location, and after a false start where I accidently laid Crystal down on a wasp hive (she didn't get bit, but I did twice! Ouch!), we got down to business and dunked the dress! My husband Rob, who is a wedding videographer, decided to come with us with his new HD video camera to record the event for posterity sake! Let us know what you think!

For those of you who aren't able to view the video clip, here's a few photos from our TTD session....

What's Happening...

Some recent news....

Things have been so unbelievably busy in the past few months. It's been difficult to keep my blog up to date, but I'm going to keep trying! Christmas portrait season seems so far away, but folks are already calling to book now. The current rate for portraits will remain until the beginning of November, and then will be increasing, due to volume. All portraits booked by November 1st will still recieve the old price, regardless of the actual date of the appointment booked. Midday/midweek sessions will continue to be discounted, as they are now. I want to thank all of my clients for the support I have recieved over the past three years I have been in operation, and I am striving to continue to improve the product I deliver to my customers.

In other news....

On my ever expanding search for more and greater opportunities to learn and grow as a photographer, I found myself at one of the most incredible seminars/workshops I've ever been to. Last week, the awesome international photography duo, Bambi Cantrell and Jerry Ghionis came to Toronto for an almost 12 hour, jam-packed seminar. I learned so much, and I am so anxious and excited to start using what I've learned! I am leaving for another seminar in a couple of weeks in Mississippi, and it's going to be another amazing learning opportunity, so if you are one of the couples who have booked me for your 2007 or 2008 wedding, prepare to be put through your paces....photographically speaking, that is!

Also, I just wanted to mention that Rob and I will be seeing many of our upcoming brides at the Northumberland News Bridal Show, at the Best Western on Sunday, September 30th. If you are planning a wedding, or are thinking about planning one, it's a great opportunity to talk to local vendors, and explore the service offered in our community. Come and visit us at the booth, and you can view some of our recent photo and video work. Lasting Memories Bridal is doing the Fashion show, so expect it to be specatular! I hope to see you there! :)

Jeni & Scott

Jeni and Scott were married a couple of weeks ago, on the farm where Jeni grew up with her parents north of Belleville. It is a beautiful property, spread out over many acres, and the perfect setting for a wedding. I probably shouldn't mention it, but they had the COOLEST thing there....a margarita truck!!! I kid you not! If I wasn't working, I'd have definately been visiting margaritaville that evening! ;) We took photos all around the farm just as the sun was setting, and it was truly beautiful. Jeni and Scott have been through a lot this past year, so it was amazing to see them share such a beautiful day with their familes and friends.

I look forward to our next session together, when we are going to 'trash' Jeni's dress! Stay tuned! :)

Growing Up Girls...

Recently Crystal brought her 2 daughters in for some photos, and I was shocked to see how much they had grown. It seems like it was only last year that our daughters were in baby group together, and now they are heading into the First Grade!!!! How in the world could that be?!? ;)

These two beauties are excitedly awaiting the birth of a new baby in the family, and I look forward to meeting him/her when he/she arrives. I do know the sex of the baby, but since I can't remember if it's a secret or not, I best keep a lid on it for now!

Beach Photos

Jay and Vanessa have been to see me so many times over the past year, they likely don't have any wall space left at their home. The kids are very photogenic (as you can see!) and they really enjoyed our recent beach session. It's a great way to let the kids roam and relax a bit, and still get some great family photos. Not as traditional as 'in-studio' photos, but equally memorable. :)

Thanks guys!

Jacky and Stu

Well, what in the world could I say about these two that would help you to understand what a fun couple they are? They literally beam with excitement when they are together, and it's like being caught up in a love fest. I hate to name drop (not true! love it!), but you may recognize them from such movies as mean girls (Jacky) and American Pie The Naked Mile (Stu)!!! Working with them was so much fun, we absolutely had a blast. Jacky and her Maid of Honour, Adrianna, are rabid 'America's Next Top Model' fans, so we had to have at least a little fun with that. My husband Rob, who was their videographer for the event, strung this footage together with the ANTM theme song....

I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to meet and share in the wedding of these two gorgeous people. When they are big stars, I know they will drag me along for the ride as their official photog! lol!

Thanks to both of you for having me! It was a blast!
